There are no rules and regulations for perfect composition. If there were we would be able to put all the information into a computer and would come out with a masterpiece. We know that’s impossible. You have to compose by the seat of your pants.

Had that very same discussion with Hero Husband yesterday. Listened to a organ player of great technicality and knowledge of his instrument, but he lacked the trueness of feeling what he played. It was difficult to listen to him, as no soul was displayed. We are both musicians and singers and we said that this person might as well have played this beautiful music on a computer…. But to feel the beat, to feel the true beauty of a picture, to feel what the listener NEEDS to feel; that is not given to everybody.

Oh you said it so well. It’s true in all art forms – there is mastery and then there is that unteachable element that must be grown and unselfishly expressed in each soul.
