Oh, I hope that’s not true for everyone. The heart has gone out of so many things. To value art and not love it, not hear it’s voice, is too terrible to think about.

This lament is not new and started about 100 years ago according to John Berger. But the big name artists are thought about and collected in contemporary times as if they were stocks or gold. Many artists have spoken against such practices. I’m reminded of Cezanne who only needed enough money to buy his canvases and divorced himself from this business of making artists ‘capital’.
