“I grew up thinking art was pictures until I got into music and found I was an artist and didn’t paint.”
— Chuck Berry, (Oct 18, 1926 – Mar 18, 2017 ), musician, song writer, singer, guitarist
“It’s hard to believe sometimes that there was a world without rock and roll music, and that means a world without the one and only Chuck Berry. But sadly today we have lost that incomparable musical pioneer. Mr. Berry was 90 years old.
We like to talk about simpler times like the 1950s, but that is a mirage. Mr. Berry channeled a new music that blended the unique American genres of country and blues. It was an urgent sound for a new age, a revolutionary spirit that would help produce long-overdue social and political change.
Mr. Berry was a hit maker, but he was also an inspiration. And his echoes can be found in many of the most famous rock acts of all time. He will live on, in his music, in his proteges and in any young dreamer who can play the guitar just like a ringing a bell.
